Three young armed robbers jailed 19 years over iPhone 6s theft in Ho

On a seemingly ordinary day in Ho, three young individuals made a decision that would change the course of their lives for the next 19 years. Mercy Sokpe, Atsu Kamasa, and Godfred Dzidonu found themselves facing a harsh reality as they were convicted of conspiracy to commit robbery and robbery in a court presided over by His Honour Osman Abdul-Hakeem.

The complainant, Elijah Torbedzi, was approached by Mercy Sokpe, who cunningly requested to use his iPhone 6s to take a selfie. Little did Torbedzi know that this seemingly innocent request was a ploy to steal his phone.

Thankfully, Torbedzi raised an alarm, leading to the swift arrest of Godfred Dzidonu, who was found in possession of the stolen phone. The police didn’t stop there, as they continued their investigations and tracked down Sokpe and Kamasa from their hideouts in Ho.

During the trial, all three perpetrators pleaded guilty to their crimes. As a result, they were each sentenced to three years in prison for conspiracy to commit robbery. However, Kamasa and Dzidonu received an additional five years each for their active roles in the assault and theft.
