Over 8,000 Ghanaians receive chip-embedded passports via free courier – Ablakwa

The Passport Reforms initiative in Ghana has been making waves since its inception on April 28th, with over 8,000 Ghanaians already benefiting from the new chip-embedded passports. Foreign Minister Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa recently announced this exciting development, highlighting the success of the “Reset Passport Reforms” program.
One of the most significant changes under the reform is the introduction of a free courier service for passport applicants. This means that Ghanaians no longer have to worry about paying additional fees for the delivery of their passports, making the process more convenient and accessible for all citizens.
Since the launch of the program, 8,463 applicants have successfully received their new passports through the free courier service. This efficient and convenient service has been a welcome change for many Ghanaians, who previously had to navigate the challenges of obtaining their passports through traditional means.
The implementation of the chip-embedded passports also marks a significant milestone in Ghana’s efforts to enhance security and prevent identity theft. These advanced passports contain biometric data and enhanced security features, making them more secure and tamper-proof than traditional passports.
The success of the Passport Reforms initiative is a testament to the Ghanaian government’s commitment to modernizing and improving its services for its citizens. With the introduction of free courier services and chip-embedded passports, Ghanaians can now enjoy a more streamlined and secure passport application process.
