Michael Kpakpo Allotey takes over as Mayor of Accra after securing 100% approval from Assembly Members

In a historic and unanimous decision, Michael Kpakpo Allotey has been elected as the Mayor of Accra with an overwhelming 100% approval from Assembly Members. Mr Allotey secured all 30 valid votes cast in an election conducted by the Electoral Commission, exceeding the two-thirds threshold required under the Local Governance Act, 2016.

The confirmation of Mr Allotey as Mayor of Accra was celebrated as a strong display of unity and support, with Assembly Members, government appointees, party executives, traditional leaders, and residents of the capital coming together in a joyous atmosphere of jubilation and drumming.

The Greater Accra Regional Minister, Linda Obenewaa Akweley Ocloo, commended the Assembly Members for rising above partisan considerations and fulfilling their constitutional mandate.
