Ghana Government Commits to Resolving Delays in Ewoyaa Lithium Project

In a recent update on the Ewoyaa Lithium Project, the Ghanaian government has pledged to resolve the delays that have been hampering the start of the mining operation. Speaking on behalf of the traditional leaders, Osagyefo Amanda Edu IV, the Omanhene of Mankessim, expressed deep concern about the prolonged delay in starting the project. He cited a sharp decline in global lithium prices from $4,000 per tonne in 2022 to $800 per tonne currently as a major factor contributing to the delays.

Despite the Minerals Commission’s moratorium granted in December 2023, parliamentary ratification is still pending, further stalling the start of mining. This has caused frustration among stakeholders who are eager to see the project move forward.

The government has acknowledged the challenges facing the Ewoyaa Lithium Project and has committed to taking the necessary steps to address the delays. Efforts are being made to expedite the parliamentary ratification process to ensure that mining can commence as soon as possible.

The Ewoyaa Lithium Project is seen as a valuable opportunity for economic growth and development in Ghana. With the global demand for lithium expected to increase in the coming years, the project has the potential to bring significant benefits to the country.

As the government works towards resolving the delays, stakeholders are hopeful that the Ewoyaa Lithium Project will soon be operational and contribute to the growth of Ghana’s mining sector. Stay tuned for further updates on this important
