Commercial sex worker, 32, jailed 20 years for human trafficking

Commercial sex worker, Patience Gold, also known as Gold, has been sentenced to 20 years in jail for human trafficking. The Tarkwa Circuit Court found Gold guilty of trafficking four young women from Nigeria to Ghana under false pretenses, forcing them into prostitution.
According to court documents, Gold not only forced the victims into prostitution but also administered illegal abortions and assaulted them. She used fear tactics, such as shaving their pubic hairs and removing their fingernails, to coerce them into working for her.
One victim revealed she was pregnant before coming to Ghana, and Gold unlawfully administered herbal concoction to terminate the pregnancy. Another victim was diagnosed with HIV/AIDS, but Gold continued to exploit her for financial gain.
