Innovative Farming Techniques Highlighted as Ghana Marks World Hunger Day 2025

The Hunger Project (THP)-Ghana recently marked the annual World Hunger Day in Nteso, emphasizing the importance of resilient and sustainable farming practices to combat food insecurity. The event, held in the Kwahu East District, saw community members and local schools come together to promote the concept of “Sowing Resilience” through innovative agricultural methods.

One of the key messages from THP-Ghana was the encouragement for households and schools to establish local gardens as a means of ensuring food security and accessibility, especially during critical times. By complementing larger-scale farming efforts with smaller, localized gardens, communities can better withstand food challenges and guarantee a steady food supply for all.

In a demonstration of their commitment to supporting these efforts, The Hunger Project announced that they would be providing an agricultural processing machine to the community of Nteso. This machine will help enhance agricultural activities and improve overall productivity, ultimately leading to greater food security for the entire region.

World Hunger Day, initiated by The Hunger Project in 2011, is observed annually on May 28th and serves as a global platform to raise awareness and inspire action to end world hunger. The event in Nteso featured a lively float by students from Nteso D/A Basic School and Anglican Primary and Junior High School (JHS), who proudly displayed various messages of solidarity and support for the cause.
