ECG installs 33/11kv mobile transformer to stabilise power supply in Tse Addo

Accra, the bustling capital city of Ghana, is set to experience a boost in its power supply with the installation of a new mobile transformer in the Tse Addo area. The Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) has taken the initiative to address the high demand for electricity in the region by introducing this state-of-the-art facility.
The mobile transformer, with a capacity of 20/26 Mega Volt Ampere (MVA) and operating at a voltage of 33/11 Kilovolt Ampere (KV), will serve as a temporary solution to support the load from the La Primary Substation. This move comes at a critical time when the demand for electricity in the area has exceeded the capacity of the existing infrastructure, putting strain on the system.

Communities such as Tse Addo, Chain Homes, and surrounding areas are expected to benefit from the upgraded power supply, which will not only enhance the reliability and quality of electricity but also boost revenue for ECG’s operations. The introduction of the mobile substation aims to stimulate socio-economic activities within the affected communities, providing a much-needed infrastructure upgrade to support their development.
During the installation of the transformer, Emmanuel Kwame Addo, the Maintenance Manager for ECG Subtransmission in Accra, emphasized that the capacity of the facility could cater to over 5,000 customers in the area. This significant increase in power supply capacity is a testament to ECG’s commitment to meeting the growing energy needs of the region and ensuring sustainable development.
Overall, the installation of the mobile transformer in Tse Addo marks a significant milestone in ECG’s efforts to improve the electricity supply in Accra. With the potential to benefit thousands of residents and businesses in the area, this initiative will undoubtedly have a positive impact on the socio-economic landscape of the
