2025 CAF Under-20: Ghana lose to Egypt to miss out on qualification to World Cup

Ghana failed in their attempt to qualify for the next U-20 World Cup after losing to Egypt on Monday, May 12. The Black Satellites lost 5-4 on penalties following a 2-2 result in 120 minutes of action, ending their hopes of progressing further at the ongoing Africa Cup of Nations.
The game started off disastrously for Ghana, with Egypt scoring two quick goals in the first eight minutes. Momen Sherif took advantage of a defensive mix-up between Ofori McCarthy and goalkeeper Gidious Aseako to put his team ahead. Sherif struck again to double Egypt’s lead, leaving Ghana with a mountain to climb.
